Denim jeans are highly marketable product in the fashion industry worn by various international celebrities and everyone all over the world. We have to admit, most of us, if not everyone, own at least a pair of jeans in their lifetime. There are many brands of denim jeans  that cater to all types of consumers which made a trademark in the industry. However, only a few managed to stay on top.

Just recently, Lee officially announced its 125^th Anniversary Celebration to commemorate their accomplishment in the fashion industry. This month-long Anniversary Archive Exhibition Asian Tour in Manila, as part of its worldwide exhibition tour, showcased 27 rare archive items, collaborative works by world-renowned master, 125 limited edition Lee 101+ Buddy Lee, the Lee Style Army All-stars and more.

The best part of its celebration was their Lee Denim Do It Yourself (DIY) Workshop held at Robinson’s Place Ermita. This workshop allowed the Lee products enthusiasts to purchase their limited edition 125^th Anniversary Jeans for only P 1,250.00 and a chance to own another pair for only P 125.00! Aside from that, the design masters of Lee were there to assist in creating your own and unique denim fingerprint making your jeans more personalized and one of a kind.

This event of Lee Philippines will also be held at the Mall of Asia on 28 and 29 May 2014 and a fashion show on 30 May 2014 to showcase their finest, fashion forward designs.

So, for those of you who wanted to have a chance to create and personalize your own pair of limited edition commemorative jeans of Lee for only P 125.00, go ahead and check their Anniversary Archive Exhibition Asian Tour in Mall of Asia on the dates stated above.

As for my Lee Denim DIY experience, here’s what you’ll have to do and expect during the process of crafting your own set of jeans:

Step 1: Size Selection – Select the size that fits your body type.

Step 2: DIY Menu – A DIY Menu must be filled up in order for you to fully customize the design of your jeans.

Step 3: Payment – Guests must settle their payment first prior to processing their jeans. Please note that the item/s selected on DIY Menu has corresponding amount which is/are on top of the retail price of P 1,250.00. In my case, I was one of the lucky few guests who were able to purchase another pair for only P 125.00. My total bill for the 2 jeans with all its additional patches for embellishments was P 2,125.00. Not bad for 2 pairs of high-quality and top of the line 125^th Limited Edition Anniversary Jeans! 🙂

Step 4:  Redemption Process – Guests must proceed to the redemption area to redeem their purchased items.

Step 5: DIY Stations – The most exciting part of the whole DIY process of creating your own set/s of Lee Limited Edition Anniversary Jeans.

The DIY Stations are properly equipped with Lee’s best machines and top-notch staff who will assist and cater to your needs as you create your personalized set of jeans.

Station 1: Dry Process – This process is where you can start scraping, whiskering and distressing your jeans to make it look more stylish and wearable for any event depending on your own tastes. Of course, the best Lee designers will be there to give you an advice on how to make it trendier and fashion forward. You must be patient during the process as this may take quite some time to make the imperfections of distressing look perfect. 🙂

Luckily, two of Lee’s best denim jeans designers Derick Hibaler and Bryan Mojica were there to assist me in customizing my jeans.  They did an amazing job in scraping, whiskering and distressing the jeans to make it look more worn out and personalized. The techniques they used made the worn out design as the main allure on dry denim.

Station 2: Sewing and Riveting – This stage is where your personally selected leather and embroidered patch are sewn and the process wherein the high-quality buttons and rivets are installed firmly using a riveting machine.

Station 3: Monogram and Embellishments – If you want to bling up your jeans by adding rhinestones and studs, this process is where you can make these embellishments.

You can also add monogram initials on your selected leather patch for free. (You must skip Station 2 if you chose to have your monogram initials on your leather patch.)

Station 4 (Step 6: Check-out): Packaging – After going through the whole DIY process, they will put your finished product on a paper bag with 125^th Anniversary logo sticker.

My finished product! 🙂 I chose to make it less distressed to give me more options in the future in modifying the worn out look of my pants.

There’s also a free soft served ice cream for everyone, until supplies last, and a Seattle’s Best Frappuccino for every purchase of personalized Lee 125^th Anniversary Jeans. Just present your receipt to claim your free drinks!
